Despite shifting travel trends and a cautious global economy, Boracay remains one of the Philippines’ crown jewels in tourism. From January to May 2025, the island welcomed a total of 793,397 visitors, signaling strong momentum toward its annual target of 2.3 million tourist arrivals.
Solid Performance Ahead of Peak Season
According to the Malay–Boracay Tourism Office, May 2025 alone recorded 222,289 visitors, with 22,713 foreign tourists joining the island escape. This is a significant improvement from earlier months and reflects a steady return of international travel.
Other notable figures:
April 2025: 195,487 arrivals
January–February 2025: Combined 374,958 arrivals
March 2025: Data pending, expected to push totals even higher
With only five months into the year, Boracay is pacing well toward hitting its target — a promising sign for both domestic and international tourism stakeholders.
What’s Fueling the Comeback?
The resurgence of interest in Boracay isn’t just about sun and sand. The island continues to evolve:
Streamlined entry processes via digital QR systems
Rehabilitated shorelines and sustainable tourism programs
A mix of high-end resorts and boutique accommodations catering to various traveler profiles
Luxury hospitality brands are also playing a key role, with rebranding efforts and elevated service experiences redefining what it means to “do Boracay.”
A Boost to the Philippines’ Tourism Goals
This uptick in Boracay’s numbers is a welcome sign for the country’s broader tourism agenda. The Department of Tourism is targeting 8.4 million international arrivals for 2025, banking on increased airline connectivity, improved infrastructure, and the global rollout of its “Love the Philippines” campaign.
As of the latest DOT data, the Philippines has already welcomed 2.56 million international tourists from January to early June 2025.
With continued momentum from top destinations like Boracay, the country remains on track—if not ahead—in restoring its position as a premier global destination.
