A Firsthand Hospitality Watch Experience

Hospitality Watch stayed at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila on multiple occasions, including Mother’s Day 2026 and Christmas 2025—two of the busiest periods on the hotel’s calendar.

Luxury hotels are easy to appreciate when occupancy is low. The real measure of hospitality, however, is how consistently a property delivers exceptional service when it’s operating at full capacity.

For us, Edsa Shangri-La, Manila continues to set that benchmark.

Having stayed at the hotel during both Mother’s Day and the Christmas holidays, we experienced the property at some of its busiest times. Despite the large number of guests, one thing remained remarkably consistent—the quality of the hospitality.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth. Whether it was the front office team, concierge, housekeeping, restaurant associates, or even the security personnel stationed at the entrances, every interaction felt sincere and professional. Everyone acknowledged guests with a smile, making us feel welcome throughout our stay.

Perhaps what impressed us most was that this wasn’t a one-time experience. We encountered the same level of service across multiple visits, demonstrating a culture of consistency that is increasingly rare, even among luxury hotels.

Another aspect we genuinely appreciated was the hotel’s flexibility. We were accommodated with an early check-in upon arrival and were also granted a late check-out, allowing our family to maximize our stay without feeling rushed.

While these requests are always subject to availability, what stood out wasn’t simply that they were approved—it was how naturally and willingly the team handled them. There was never a sense that we were asking for a favor. Instead, it reflected a service culture focused on creating a better guest experience whenever possible.

The guestrooms were spacious, elegant, and exceptionally well maintained. Although the design leans toward classic luxury rather than contemporary trends, everything was meticulously cared for and remained comfortable throughout our stay.

One thoughtful detail that made a lasting impression was the hotel’s attention to our children. Upon arrival, our kids received their own amenities, a simple yet meaningful gesture that immediately made them feel included. Moments like these remind us that great hospitality isn’t always found in grand gestures—it’s often the smallest details that guests remember most.

One of the property’s biggest highlights is undoubtedly its swimming pool. Surrounded by lush tropical landscaping, it offers a genuine resort atmosphere rarely found in Metro Manila. Spacious, beautifully maintained, and ideal for families, it’s a place where both adults and children can spend hours enjoying the property.

In our opinion, Edsa Shangri-La has one of the best family swimming pools in Metro Manila.

Dining was another standout. Breakfast featured an impressive variety of local and international selections, offering something for every member of the family. More importantly, despite visiting during two peak holiday periods, the hotel managed guest flow exceptionally well.

Unlike many luxury hotels where breakfast queues become inevitable during busy weekends, we never experienced long waiting times. Tables turned over efficiently, staff remained attentive, and the restaurant maintained a calm and organized atmosphere despite the high occupancy.

Beyond breakfast, the hotel also offers a wide range of dining options, giving guests plenty of choices without needing to leave the property.

What truly separates Edsa Shangri-La, however, isn’t just its beautiful facilities or excellent food.

It’s the consistency.

Across multiple stays, the warmth of the greetings, the attentiveness of the staff, the thoughtful family touches, the flexibility with guest requests, and the hotel’s ability to maintain high standards even during its busiest periods all reflected a deeply rooted culture of hospitality.

Luxury is often associated with elegant rooms and premium amenities. Hospitality, however, is about how a hotel makes its guests feel. Edsa Shangri-La succeeds in both.
